One of the most recognized projects that ALCHIMICA was part of, is the Indian Institute of Technology Madras, in Chennai. The IIT is one of the best institutes for higher education in India.

The Indian Institute of Technology Madras is known both nationally and internationally for excellence in technical education, basic and applied research, innovation, entrepreneurship and industrial consultancy. In 1956, the German Government offered technical assistance for establishing an institute of higher education in engineering in India. The first Indo-German agreement was signed in 1959 in Bonn West Germany, for the establishment of the Indian Institute of Technology at Madras.

IIT Madras has been the top-ranked engineering institute in India for four consecutive years as well as accredited as the ‘Best Educational Institution’ in Overall Category in the NIRF Rankings of 2019 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development.
For the implementation of specific engineering tests, a towing tank has been constructed in a separate building of 90m length, 10m width and 5m height. The towing tank is well ventilated and is equipped with very effective lighting system. For the successful construction of the project a durable waterproofing solution was required.

PROJECT REQUIREMENTS
The project had specific requirements for the waterproofing and protection of the towing tank. Due to the fact that the tank was to be used for testing purposes, the Institute required a durable and strong solution that would prevent water ingression, deal with mechanical forces and waves during tests and a high resistance to temperature changes, acidity and chemicals.
