Under asphalt waterproofing with HYPERDESMO®-PB-2K for indoor car park.

The advanced liquid applied bitumen-extended polyurethane waterproofing membrane HYPERDESMO®-PB-2K was used in a big construction site in Finland, for the development of a five-story car park. On the left side of this residential block, a connected car-park section has been designed to facilitate all the resident’s needs.  Asphalt was chosen as the main surface in order to be suitable for hard vehicular traffic which is a kind of method that it is preferred in Finland.  

Project requirements   

This specific car park required a specific waterproofing solution for being used upon the concrete slabs at the beginning of the development but further to be able to successfully bonded with the asphalt.

Rijeka’s planetarium. Waterproofing and humidity barrier solution, HYPERDESMO®-PB-2K

Project Description   

One of the best attractions in Rijeka city is the Rijeka astronomy center which it has opened in 2001. The center is repurposed second World War military fortress and represents the biggest ever investment in Croatia’s technological culture. The architectural design of the center based on a minimalistic exposed concrete structure. The astronomy center includes an observatory and a planetarium which is the only digital planetarium in Croatia. Inside the planetarium the main hall offers 50 seats where the guests can enjoy projections (live presentations) of the skyline and celestial objects or watch films on astrology and underwater world, which are displayed on an 8m diameter dome above their heads.  

Project Requirements  

With the building being finished entirely by concrete the construction plan included the insulation of the concrete roof and walls with insulation foam boards for achieving the best energy efficiency of the building and protect it from weathering. In that case, the project itself required an absolute waterproofing of the concrete substrate throughout the whole structure. While the sensitive electronics equipment of the astronomy center required vapor barrier protection in order to ensure its safe operation.

For the waterproofing of the planter boxes, ALCHIMICA’s waterproofing system based on the certified HYPERDESMO®-PB-2K was used offering exceptional waterproofing performance. While the foundations and retaining walls were waterproofed using the HYPERDESMO-PB-MONO products. The system’s incomparable waterproofing performance along with its exceptional mechanical properties and its anti-root resistance, was the best of option for the waterproofing of the structures in a total area of 2.000 m2.

HYPERDESMO®-PB-2K was chosen to waterproof the podium in Boulevard Heights , thanks to its CE mark certification for 25 years expected working life and its mechanical and chemical features, it is ideal for podium waterproofing.

The waterproofing of the podium area was completed with the waterborne epoxy primer AQUADUR , with its track record of more than 20 years of successful use as primer for the HYPERDESMO® line of products and the self-leveling polyurethane with bitumen material HYPERDESMO PB-2k.

Non-exposed waterproofing of podium in Presidential Palace, Moldova.

The application works have been done in Presidential Palace in Chisinau, Moldova, in 2018. The waterproofing of a podium area with the waterborne epoxy primer AQUASMART DUR and the self-leveling polyurethane with bitumen material HYPERDESMO PB-2k. The sand has been spread over the all surface for the following placement of the tiles.
